Taking advantage of the use of x-ray technology, Computed Tomography (CT) machines produce high resolution images that provide a great deal of information for your doctor. Many CT examinations require some preparation, whether it is the removal of metallic items, fasting or some form of contrast such as a drink or an injection. For most examinations, you will be lying down on a table as it moves back and forth through a “donut” shaped machine. You can easily see all the way through the machine from one side to the other.
The CT technician will also be able to communicate with you at any point during your examination to ensure you are comfortable. The majority of time for most examinations will be in the preparation, the scan at the end is generally the shortest part of your visit.
If you are a diabetic, asthmatic, suffer severe allergies, are pregnant or have had an adverse reaction to an x-ray contrast (dye), please inform our staff when making your appointment.
You can make an appointment for your CT scan with the Al Safwa Radiology Center, Sharjah. Our staff will assist you with any question related to your CT scan.
